Took a little trip up to San Rafael to see Youth in Art Italian Street Painting Festival. It was good to see it but I wish now that I'd gone on the second day and in the afternoon when the chalk art was more complete.

I've been wanting to go this little home-grown nerd fest for a while and I finally got to visit the Maker's Faire. :)
5.20.09
Finally got around to editing and publishing the photos I took during my hiking adventure in Yosemite last week. Had a great time and really enjoyed myself during this trip. Next time, I'll be a little more prepared (trail closures, not packing enough food/water, and traveling alone). I've broken the pictures down by the days rather than the different locations:
- Day 1: Wondering the valley floor, and Mariposa Grove
- Day 2: Hiking up to Glacier Point looking over to Yosemite Falls
- Day 3: Hiking up Yosemite Falls and Yosemite Point
- Day 4: Wandering around Mirror Lake and Tenaya Creek

I got a new toy today! Its the Sony GPS CS3 unit for digital camera. I went out near sunset today and took a few pictures. The following link requires that you have Google Earth installed on your machine to view these images and where they were taken.
Enjoy!

The Mexico City trip was such a treat for me! I've always wanted to visit Mexico City and to see the Aztec pyramids as well. Despite the chest cold and hot weather, I still had blast! I wish now that I spent more than just four days there.
Check out my pictures from this wonderful trip!

I just got word that some of my photographs got published! Woo! My first professional(?) posting!
During last year's Foothill Century ride, I took a few pictures and this year's organizer really liked them. Two my pictures were featured in the 4th Annual Foot Century ride home page and the email that went out to anyone interested in the cycling event.
2.14.09
Attended the 3rd annual Pillow Fight in San Francisco and all I can say is this: Incredible! Enjoy the pix!
1.13.09
Feeling restless and not in the mood for the gym, I ventured out at 6:30 in the morning to shoot these pictures at the park where I work: Pacific Shores. Guess I was too excited from receiving notice that I paid off my Saturn finally. Woo!

Due to excellent weather this weekend, I was "forced" to go out and play (more than usual). I hiked Purisima Redwoods Creek today. Dabbled with my RAW settings on my camera and go some good images. Oh, you might notice a gallery change in this collection as well....

Inspired by the wanderer's bug, I decided to take a little trip to see Napa. To be honest, its not what I thought it would be. Downtown was downright depressing and after two hours of wandering around, I decided that I'm going to drive up to Calistoga and see what's up there. I found, to my delight, three things I've never seen or done before. I discovered Old Faithful of California, saw a petrified forest (more like a small woods), and enjoyed a mud and mineral bath at the Roman Spa Hot Springs Resort (review). The mud bath was a total fluke! This place is usually scheduled weeks in advance but I walked right in, got an appointment, and an hour later, I was sitting up to my neck in smelly hot mud. That was truly an eye opening experience. I've never had someone pamper me like this before.
Anyway, here is my collection of images from this wandering adventure in Napa Valley.

Happy New Year! Woooo! What better way to celebrate New Year's Day by waking up at 7am and driving for nearly 1.5 hours to wander aimlessly in Santa Cruz? I couldn't think of a better idea what to do with myself that day. Enjoy my little collection of images I took in and around the waterfront of Santa Cruz. Let's see. I shall use the tags like board walk, arcade, classic, sand sculpture, sea lion, waves, and shadows. Can you guess what I saw today?

Spent the day wandering around San Francisco. Call it a short walkabout if you like but I went up there with no agenda, no plan, or schedule. This trip was just me, my camera, and the City. This little hike was quite liberating. Took the train instead of driving and just walked everywhere over the course of the day. I uploaded some of the better images in my Photography page called Wandering San Francisco 12/26/08.
12.24.08
Since I'll be adding a lot photographs to my site, I've created a new section call Photography. I moved the randoms images to it as well as a select few from my recent Waterdog Park Hike.
Enjoy!
12.20.08
Took a little hike in Watergod Park in Belmont. Figured since this might be the last day for sunshine, I should take full advantage of it with my new toy.
12.16.08
Thought I'd share a few more random images I snapped off with my new toy (Sony DSLR-A300). You could consider it an early Xmas gift (to myself) for the pain and suffering AIO put me though in the last five weeks.
I'd forgotten how much I loved using SLR cameras! I loved it back in high school and undergrad but had to put it aside when I no longer had access to a darkroom or the time it took to play around in the darkroom. Expect to see a lot more "artsy" galleries in the near future!
11.22.08
Ok, last week's hike wasn't enough. So, I went on another hike. This time it was light and easy on the hills near Stanford Dish. I wasn't out for a good workout or for breaking a sweat, just a little fresh air, pictures of ground squirrels near high tech equipment, and a zeppelin. No, it wasn't a led zeppelin....
Felt good after this hike so maybe next week (on Black Friday) I'll go hike Mt. Diablo again.
11.15.08
Decided to get out a little this week and do an afternoon hike around Lake Chabot. I've done this hike a few times before but the pictures never turned out so well. Well, they did this time. Enjoy!

28635 page hits this past month! Woo! New high? Yes. The google searches are actually down (to 40.2%) and the robot searches are near 7800 hits.
Batch Rendering continues to top the number requested page in my site. In second place: the home page. NURBS Island is down to 5th and the cloth tutorial is down to 6th. My resume page still ranks in the top 20 (17th) and my Adventure pages are starting to show up placing 37th this time around.
Big whoop! Wanna fight about it? No, I'll just play with my new toys. :p
8.24.08
After many long hours slaving over a hot keyboard, I've finished scanning, editing, and publishing my album from my Art in Italy Trip 1997. That was one amazing dream-like trip! I look forward to the day when I get to visit that place again!
8.10.08
Well, I've proven to myself that I can take a pretty good beating on a bike today. This year's Tour de Max event took us over the Santa Cruz mountains not once but twice. Take a look at this route! 70 miles (plus 21.2 round trip to the event) and 7200 calories later, I'm pooped! But no time for rest. Tomorrow I must catch an early flight to Los Angeles for SIGGRAPH 2008.
7.1.08
According to this month's (June) web statistics, I had over 26,000 hits (new record)! What did I do to deserve that??? Furthermore, the following web sites (outside of Google) feature my tutorials (or links to them) on their sites:
- 3dbuzz.com
- simplymaya.com
- macs3d.com
- infinitee-designs.com
- the forums of percutio.de
Well, I thought it was interesting anyway. ;p
I've added a QuickTime video of the would-be tornado.Sorry the audio was so blown out that I disabled it to save your speakers.
6.29.08
I've updated the old pages from my trip to LA on 7/4/06. Enjoy! These pages are no longer in a flash format and benefit from the good design of CSS. Woo!
6.28.08
I've returned from a visit with my family back home in Indiana. Quite the trip I must say. Emotional highs and lows, strong thunderstorms (miss those out here in Cali), playing with my neice and nephew, and a ton of pictures.
Instead of creating one huge gallery, I've decided to split them up into six smaller presentations. Enjoy!
- Downtown Auburn
- Eckhart Park
- Eckhart Public Library
- Immel Household
- Grandma Slater's House
- Thunderstorms
Now if I can only get over this damn chest cold. Boo! I'm missing out on a century ride today. :(
5.18.08
I have successful completed my second metric century ride. The Foothill Century was fun but nearly as technicall as the Grizzly Peak Century. But this time, it wasn't enough to just ride 61 miles. So, I made the insane decision to ride to and from the event adding another 33 miles to the total distance ridden today.
5.3.08
Completed my first metric century ride, ever! Perhaps I should have picked an easier one to start with but the bear didn't get me at the Grizzly Peak Century.
4.28.08
Here are a few pictures of the Madagascar2 Halfway Celebration.
And then there was the Rebuilding Together San Francisco Day event where we had 46 volunteers from PDI and other companies pitch in to rebuild Daniel Webster Elementary School. Feels good to do something nice for the community (even if you don't live in that 'hood).

Did ya ever have one of those days were you just felt like this:

3.31.08
Got a little inspired over the weekend and created a little Photoshop painting based on a photograph of my chilling on a Lazy Sunday Morning.
3.24.08
Dispite being ill today, I still managed to post these pictures from hiking Portola Valley last weekend. With great weather, comes great responsibility to hike, bike, and take it all in!
1.21.08
Started redesigning the site. What do ya think? Mmmm CSS tastes great with blue BGs....
After much soul searching (and poking around various CSS sites), I've made the leap to the worldful world of CSS formatted pages. I suppose next you'll want me to throw in some PHP or Ajax or maybe even a wiki.... Where will the madness end?!?!
