Correcting Glow Flicker in Maya

Flickering glow (default settings) |
Using glows on your shaders can add wonderful effects to your animation. It looks real sharp once you dialed in the values you want with your scene and render a single frame in Maya. But when you render out the sequence, it flickers. This is due to auto exposure attribute on the shaderGlow. |
|
Open the Multilister/Hypershader and you'll find a default material called shaderGlow. Double click it to bring up the attribute editor. Turn off the auto exposure. Now your glows won't flicker but the intesity is completely blown out. You will need to re-adjust the glow and halo intensities also found in the attributes of the shaderGlow material. It may look a little blown out in Maya but when it renders, it will look like fine. |
Flicker correction (glow intensity at 0.1 and halo intensity at 0.1). |
