Color lighting
Lighting in Maya uses the Additive Lighting System
- Mixing RGB lights = white light
- When equal intensities of all three lights are the same, white light is produced.

The absence of light = black.
- In 3D lighting systems, you can render black lights. Not black lights in the term of making things glow through ultraviolet lighting but by setting a light’s intensity attribute to a negative value.
- Why render black lights? Rendering black lights helps sculpt more shadows and add mystery to a section of your image.
