The library fountain was purchased by Mr. Charles Eckhart in fall of 1911. Cost, including installation estimated to be nearly $2,000. Total height to be 19 feet with an octagon base pool (21' 6" in diameter), a mid-level basin (8' 5"in diameter), an upper level basin (5' 8" in diameter) and a sculpture representing two figures struggling to gain possession of a duck at the fountain’s summit.

The fountain was created by the J.L. Mott Iron Works Company of New York.

Later, it was refurbished by the Venus Bronze Works Center for Conservation Company of Detroit, Michigan in 1997.

Currently listed on the Smithsonian Register of Historic Statuary, its estimated value is over $400,000.
